Loreto
Day School, Elliott Road was founded on Tuesday, 10th
January s1956. Sr. Gertrude was its first Principal. It is
managed by the Loreto Sisters – I.B.V.M. It was
recognized as a Primary School (Anglo-Indian) on 20.9.1957
– Nursery – Class IV.

It was given recognition as an
Anglo-Indian Modern Secondary School having classes from
K.G. – IX under the code of Regulations of Anglo-Indian
Schools on 7th November s1960. Later, it was
recognized as an Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School on
19th July 1963 and given permission to present
candidates for the ISC Exams. It was placed on a list of
affiliated schools on 22nd July 1963 of the
Council for the ICSE.
At
present, the school has classes from Nursery – Class XI.C.S.E., national Open School Class and one Class
of the I.S.C. (Arts) Stream. The total number of children
on roll are 1137, the Staff – 56.
