Academics

The 2-year course prepares teachers in the professional subjects, viz. Educational Psychology, Principles of Education and School Organisation, Methods of Teaching at Primary level. Content subjects : Value Education, English, Mathematics, History, Geography, General Science are also included in the course work. Instruction and practice are given in practical subjects such as Art & Craft, Physical Education, Speech Training, preparation of teaching aids, Computer skills. Each trainee is required to do practical teaching at different levels in the primary school for four weeks each year. 

 Extra curricular/co-curricular Activities

Trainees work regularly on projects in all areas of the curriculum. Micro teaching lessons are conducted weekly. Excursions are organized on an on-going basis. Every week the trainees visit one of the city schools to observe demonstration lessons. The department organizes an Annual Coffee Morning and a Christmas Bazaar as fundraisers for less fortunate children and part of their social service projects.
