Our
History
In
1926, at the suggestion of the parish clergy the
Provincial, Rev. Mother Rosario Dicher decided to
start a school for Nepali Catholic girls on the verandah
of the boys school. It began with 7 girls under the
direction of Baptista Murphy, the Novice Mistress and the
early teachers were the novices. As the numbers increased
a classroom was built and in 1931 Mother F.T. D’ Santos
took over the running of the school helped by some
dedicated teachers. This group continued to serve the
school for nearly 30 years as it grew and developed.
Since 1998 under Sr.
EJizabeth, dynamic leadership the school has gone further
both in academics and sports. Our children have started
taking part in state level games, quiz contests and the
National Children’s Science Congress. Two of our
children went even to Germany to attend a Science
Programme. Sr. Elizabeth ' s charisma in establishing good
relationship with different departments of the government
has helped the school in many ways. With financial aid
from the D.G.H.C. and the West Bengal Govt. she has been
able to improve the infrastructure of the school. A school
which had started on a verandah is indeed lucky to have
three separate labs for Chemistry , Geography and Biology
.It is no wonder children from distant hills and valleys
as well as nearby villages want to join the school.
